• Minimum ten years of relevant work experience
• Experience in analyzing and assessing prehistoric and historic cultural resources sites and occupations
• Demonstrated ability to perform and lead survey, testing, and mitigation projects throughout the western U.S.
• Provide senior technical leadership and responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments
• Provide high-level management of projects and maintain an awareness of budgetary, schedule, and project technical goals & status
• Serve as a technical and development leader for cultural resources projects, including client contact, proposal development, mentoring of junior staff, and quality control
• Experience with the full range of archaeological tools and recording devices
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and ability to use related computer systems and software
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local legislation affecting cultural resources
• Broad and varied experience writing technical reports and agency submittals
• CPR/First Aid
• OSHA Training
• Valid Driver's License

Job Description: The AECOM Canada West/Mountain States Area Cultural Resources team is actively seeking an archaeologist for immediate employment in the Bismarck, North Dakota Office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in all aspects of cultural resources management; beginning with proposal preparation, proceeding through job execution and resources documentation, and concluding with the preparation of a proficient and skillfully written technical report. The applicant must also have developed strong working relationships with a variety of clients and staff with various regulatory agencies, such that the applicant can leverage these relationships in a strategic manner for short-term and long-term growth in the cultural resources management practice in AECOM’s Canada West/Mountain States geographic region.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Organizes and conducts cultural resources investigations according to a well-defined scope-of-work
• Works on complex and challenging projects with little senior assistance
• Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures
• Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments or market new work
• Prepare marketing materials and making calls to potential new clients
• Nurtures and develops existing clients more broadly
• Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments
• Mentors junior and mid-level staff
