Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry desired. Six (6)or more years of experience in laboratory operations, at least two (2) of which have been in a supervisory capacity. Strong working knowledge of gas chromatography, infrared, ultraviolet and atomic absorption spectrophotomery and other analytical instruments. Strong working knowledge of liquids (i.e., solvents, hypergolic fuels and oxidizers, hydraulic oils, lubricants, and aviation fuels).
Strong written communications and organizational skills. Thorough understanding of local, state and national standards and permits. Excellent analytical skills. Ability to perform detail-oriented work.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. US Citizenship required for unescorted access to assigned work area(s). Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check w/inquiries.

Job Description: Provide compliance with local, state and federal permits and regulations through chemical testing and analysis at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Supervise qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses by the chemical laboratory staff of various materials associated with the operation of the process facility.
* Overview assignment of Chemists, Technicians and clerical staff to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
* Plan analytical procedures for use in complex analysis situations by adapting standard company procedures or devising local procedures where necessary.
* Review laboratory methods and procedures to ascertain their accuracy and validity.
* Prepare laboratory reports, tests plans, and analytical procedures as required by operations.
* Oversee special chemical investigations requested by NASA, Contractor personnel and company management and review reports.
* Oversee changes to company chemical analysis manual and approve for issue.
* Evaluate personnel performance, provide discipline and recommend commendations for Chemical Sampling/Analysis element.
* Substitute for Laboratory Manager during absence as required to maintain laboratory operations.
* Participate and contribute to safety programs, perform instrument audits and maintain an orderly and safe laboratory environment.
* Ensure implementation of all compliance standards per the company Business System.
* Plan budget for any technical and operational equipment.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
