Job Description: The Dow Business Unit within AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Laboratory Technician for immediate entry level employment in the Midland, MI office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate experience in laboratory science, sample management and quality assurance specific to environmental media (air, particulates, soil and groundwater). The incumbent can look forward to projects including environmental and industrial hygiene sample management, documentation and quality assurance for routine monitoring and investigation activities.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to under the direction of a professional or experienced Environmental Scientist or Project Manager:
• Processing of samples prior to shipment (e.g. unpack, perform quality checks, documentation)
• Sample login, fill out chain of custody paperwork and pack samples for shipment
• Review and report results from external contract lab using appropriate reporting tool
• Perform regular computations and calculations
• Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to process data and generate reports
• Receive close supervision on all aspects of assignments
• Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard scientific techniques, safety practices, established procedures and criteria in carrying out tasks
