Participation in a 24x7 on call rotation may be required. May be required to travel to SEC locations and data centers (<10% travel required) Candidates must be U.S. Citizen or have legal right to work in the USA without sponsorship (Agency check will be required for this position) Job Description: AECOM has an immediate opportunity for a Data Center Engineer with a strong background in industry standards and best practices to support a government agency’s capabilities in Washington, D.C (Union Station / Red Line). This operational role will act as a team lead administrator in support of the Office of Information Technology for a Federal Regulatory agency. This position covers work that is highly complex and varied in nature and would be recognized as an expert within this discipline, providing strategic direction, guidance and integration of services. Also recommends enterprise wide standards, guidelines, and procedures for technical maintenance changes, including the redesign of infrastructure components within the data centers. Provides consultation services to our government client and is a key contributor to solving difficult technical problems with domain expertise. Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware in data centers. Develops implementation strategies, maintains capacity management plan, and leads team members to provide fulfillment of tasks as identified in the statement of work. Performs certification and performance tests on a variety of OSI layer 1 copper and fiber cables. Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable. Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and supervise others. The position will also require occasional weekend work and occasional after hours work to respond to any issues when required. A successful candidate must be willing and capable of managing hands on remote access management activities and be responsible for those support activities within the team. Success in this role demands great customer service skills, strong technical knowledge and, excellent organizational skills.
