Personal attributes - Adaptive, energetic and proactive approach to tasks - Understands the business environment in which the company and team operates - Seeks and accepts a high level of responsibility and accountability - Develops strong working relationships, with clients and within / across teams - Able to manage a successful and healthy work/life balance Job Description: Position Summary Senior Consultant (Rail Planning and Operations) URS’s Transport Strategy and Operations team (formerly Systemwide) is one of the most experienced rail planning and operations advisory teams in Australia. This team has played a significant role in the planning of the major Australian railway networks, both passenger and freight, with our clients including federal government, state government transport departments, public and private sector rail operating companies and construction firms. We have extensive experience working with clients and colleagues on multi-disciplinary teams on major projects, including rail engineering, rail signalling, systems engineering, transport planning and economic analysis, and have a strong reputation for delivering well-communicated, quality insight utilising scientific analysis and extensive industry knowledge. The role We currently have exciting opportunities for Senior Consultant and Consultant roles to grow the team and continue to provide excellent service to our clients in the strategic planning of Australia’s rail networks, and major, landmark rail projects shaping Australia’s cities. Responsibilities - Ensure project outputs / outcomes are clearly and effectively communicated to the client - Support the Technical Director in enhancing the technical capability of the TS&O team through technical training, knowledge management, model scoping and trouble-shooting, software selection etc. - Assist the Manager in the general management of the team, particularly in resource planning, allocation of staff to projects, business development activities, - Lead and assist the development of project tenders / proposals Essential / mandatory requirements - 6-10 years experience rail planning and operations analysis - Bachelors degree engineering, science or mathematics - Significant experience working in the rail industry, including consultancy - Detailed understanding of key aspects influencing operations and capacity, including signalling systems, rollingstock, stations and network infrastructure, and highly proficient in the use and application of RailSys and other simulation and analysis tools, Open Track, ARENA, DISPO, Planimate, Dynamis, and Train Load Predictor for operational and infrastructure assessment, at strategic through to project level. - Strong business development and project management skills for application over a project lifecycle, ranging from identification of new opportunities, engagement with potential clients, proposal development, budgets, resources and risk management. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills, - Successfully led and delivered technical phases of various projects
