Requisition Number: IE104791 Interest Category: Engineering Interest Sub Category: Engineering - Rail Job Title : Consultant TSO Employment Category/Status: full-time Type of Position: Regular Hire Country: Australia State: Victoria City: Melbourne Minimum Requirements: Skills / Knowledge / Experience / Attributes Experience - 3-6 years experience rail planning and operations analysis - Bachelors degree engineering, science or mathematics - Member of professional institutions / industry groups - Strong knowledge of rail planning and operational modelling - Experience working in the rail industry, including consultancy Skills and Expertise - Able to confidently discuss project requirements, objectives and scope elements with clients, colleagues and other disciplines - Proficient in the use of rail analytical tools, in particular RailSys, with experience in other simulation and analysis tools, such as Open Track , desirable - Strong understanding of key aspects influencing operations and capacity, including signalling systems, rollingstock, stations and network infrastructure - Able to apply strategic thinking and appropriate analytical methods such as static modelling, parametric analysis, dynamic simulations / calibration etc to projects - Lead project analysis, including supervising staff, in small projects or components of larger projects - Able to autonomously plan, budget and manage tasks and small projects - Deliver tasks of sufficient quality, efficiently on time and on budget - Able to confidently communicate, and demonstrated ability to co-operate and collaborate with others, including in multi-disciplinary project environments - Familiar with the issues in all the key rail markets in Australia, and has a good understanding of current rail technologies - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong inter-personal skills Knowledge - Develops body of knowledge and skills relevant to work and role requirements - Actively seeks self development opportunities and contributes to the wider body of knowledge of the TS&O team. This team has played a significant role in the planning of the major Australian railway networks, both passenger and freight, with our clients including federal government, state government transport departments, public and private sector rail operating companies and construction firms. We have extensive experience working with clients and colleagues on multi-disciplinary teams on major projects, including rail engineering, rail signalling, systems engineering, transport planning and economic analysis, and have a strong reputation for delivering well-communicated, quality insight utilising scientific analysis and extensive industry knowledge. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant to join the team and continue to provide excellent service to our clients in the strategic planning of Australia’s rail networks, and major, landmark rail projects shaping Australia’s cities. Responsibilities - Ensure project outputs / outcomes are communicated to the client clearly and effectively - Support the Senior Consultant, Technical Director and Manager in developing team capability, through guidance and mentoring of junior staff. - Lead and assist the development of project tenders / proposals Essential / mandatory - 3-6 years experience rail planning and operations analysis - Bachelors degree engineering, science or mathematics - Strong knowledge of rail planning and operational modelling, and key aspects influencing operations and capacity - Experience working in the rail industry, including consultancy - Proficient in use of rail analytical tools, in particular RailSys, and other simulation and analytical tools, and application at a strategic through to project level
