3. Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other materials handling equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. DOT certification (CFR 49).
2. RCRA certification.
3. Technical certification or specialized training preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
• Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other URS customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
• Have the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Have the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs.
• Must be able to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color coding.
• Have the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, and kneel repetitively during shift.
• Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for a shift.
• Have the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for a shift.
• Have the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant for a shift.
Special Requirements:
• Must be willing to work overtime, on shift coverage, on holidays, weekends, and as required to maintain plant services in a reliable condition.
• Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Job Description: URS, an AECOM company, is seeking a Hazardous Materials Technician III in Columbus, GA! Typical work schedule is 7:00am – 3:30pm; hours may vary based on business demand.
The Hazardous Materials Technician reports to the Industrial Wastewater Treatment Manager and performs a variety of duties related to the handling, moving, and controlling materials that are identified as Hazardous Materials at the manufacturing and jet engine repair facilities located in Columbus, GA. This position will be responsible for completing the required documentation and physical preparation for storage and/or shipping of both regulated and non-regulated hazardous materials, according to established procedures and appropriate regulations. As an integral team member of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), the Hazardous Materials Technician will also perform other duties as directed by the WWTP Manager in support of daily plant operations.
Essential Functions:
• Applies company and client hazardous materials handling and storage procedures and processes.
• Receives hazardous materials from on-site customers and checks against documentation for nomenclature, identification and quantity.
• Transports 400 gallon totes utilizing forklift or other means of conveyance on-site to facilitate processing to the on-site wastewater treatment plant or 3rd party transportation off-site.
• Stores materials, parts and hazardous waste materials such as waste oils, solvents and industrial wastewater in proper locations according to identifying factors.
• Prepares manifests and chain of custody forms and prepares goods for shipment.
• Performs internal HAZMAT inventory audits and arranges for disposal of various chemical and waste materials from the site.
• Communicates noncompliance concerns to ensure corrective actions have taken place.
• Assists in "Spill Response" situations along with Security and HAZMAT Teams as required.
• Provides training to new employees in hazardous materials handling/process techniques.
• Attends periodic training sessions to obtain appropriate recertification credentials.
• Initiates the Monthly Self-Assessment for Hazardous procedures.
• Maintains adequate hazmat shipping supply inventory.
• Maintains current manuals, MSDS and other reference materials at all times.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of processing, packing and shipping of hazardous materials.
