• Four years of experience working as a civil engineer on highway/roadway design projects
• Design experience working with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) highway projects.
• Experience working with one or more of the following software: Microstation, AutoCAD, GeoPak, FDOT Plans Production
• Strong foundation in the fundamentals of Civil Engineering
• Quality written and verbal communication skills; well-developed planning and organizational skills; strong computer skills; and a willingness to learn new skills
• Effective ability to work well within a project team
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position may be required to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Job Description: AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Highway Engineer for immediate employment in the Orlando, FL office. Join a team of experienced transportation civil engineers designing major and municipal roadways in Florida. As part of the highway design team you will have the opportunity to design and follow through with the construction for major and municipal roadways. Responsibilities:
• Field investigations and data gathering
• Identifying alternative solutions and investigating advantages and disadvantages of each
• Technical analysis and design including application of specialized modeling software, spreadsheets, and databases
• Preparation of engineering reports including text and exhibits
• Developing preliminary and final engineering design documents including plans and specifications
• Participate in periodic site visits to facilities under construction
• Attend project meetings involving other members of the design team along with clients
• Assist with project management and coordination
• Some travel to project sites
• May train less experienced staff in preparation of construction documents and design
• May be a task manager or manage small segments of projects
• Responsible for quality control of tasks or small segments of project produced, as well as products of technical and administrative staff assigned tasks by engineer
