Our global network of top\-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries\. **Job Summary** • Perform design, review, and checking for new and modified vital circuitry and application logic programs for automatic block systems, centralized traffic control, interlockings, and highway grade crossing warning systems; • Projects will be for: o North American heavy\-rail freight and passenger systems; o LRT and Subway transit systems; • Ensure that all projects meet applicable standards, rules and regulations, as well as all applicable client standards and signal design policies and procedures; • Design of active warning devices for at\-grade crossings; • Coordinate signals design with power supply and civil/track designs that are done by others; • Prepare technical specifications; • Estimate engineering effort \(fees\) for signals design proposals and monitor design team costs relative to established budgets; • Attend client meetings; • Act as the designated signals design specialist on complex rail projects; • Primary role is to act as the main designated design checker\. **Minimum Requirements** • Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations pertaining to railroad signal systems and highway\-rail grade crossing warning systems, such as Arema, CROR, GCS, Cenilec; • Experience with both AutoCAD and MicroStation, specializing in both of the two systems; • Experience in Grade crossing, relay based technology, microprocessor based technology and Vital Microprocessor\-based interlocking equipment programming; • Knowledge of AREMA C&S Recommended Practices, RTD\-10, CROR, and industry standards\. • Strong written and verbal English and French skills\. **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience with signal testing and commissioning \(field experience and/or test\-plan preparation experience\); • Experience designing signals for: Class 1 Railway, Commuter Railway, Subway, LRT; • Positive Train Control \(PTC\) and or CBTC experience; • Systems integration experience; • Communications \(radio, fibre, SCADA, etc\.\) design experience; • RAMS \(reliability, accessibility, maintainability, safety\) engineering; • Application software simulation experience \(Vital\-Sim or equal\); • Electrical power supply and distribution design; • Engineering team management; • Preparation of construction cost estimate; • OACETT certification or P\.Eng\. licensed in Ontario and or Quebec or eligible for licensing\. **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people\.
