The minimum requirements for this position are as follows: High school diploma or equivalent. Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy "C" School or vocational school with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance. Two years’ electronic maintenance in five or more of the following areas: -Digital/analog signal processing; -Communications (multiplexer equipment, VHF, UHF, microwave, fiber-optic); -Computer systems; -Wireless access points; -Radio Over IP; -DC power supplies; -Test equipment; -RF signal processing; -Antennas; RF systems; -Low-voltage AC equipment; -Primary and secondary power equipment. Must maintain a current Network + or higher certification. Must possess & maintain a valid state-issued Driver’s License. Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. Must achieve high-altitude climber qualification within 6 months of hire & maintain for duration of employment. Must meet the DOD 8570 certifications and requirements for IAT Level 1. Ability to speak, read, and write English. Possess a valid state Driver’s License. US citizenship and Secret Clearance Required. Preferred Qualifications: Current transferable secret clearance. Current climber qualification/certification. Job Description: Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Performs troubleshooting, isolates malfunctions, and repairs to the component level. Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of RF operating system diagnostics and circuits. Uses complex test instruments such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, site masters and computer analytical equipment. Performs organizational and intermediate-level maintenance on assigned equipment. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments. Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance with accepted practices. Performs corrosion control on all towers and all other communications equipment as required. Supports special tests, evaluations, equipment relocations, and new equipment installations as required including all I/O systems. Cross-trained and qualified to operate other range systems. When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must cease work and notify lead, supervisor, or manager of all unsafe conditions. Will accurately document work performed in the IEMS Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. May also work outdoors for extended lengths of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 44 pounds. The employee is required to push, pull, turn and position parts, assemble equipment, and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Often exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acid, fluids, and lubricants. The employee is required to follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hardhat, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing. Safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
