Its project headquarters reside in Lexington, KY. Plant operations are located in Paducah, KY and Piketon, OH. The Company currently employs approximately 375 employees. An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Nuclear Safety Engineer at BWXT's manufacturing facility located in Piketon, OH. The plant converts Uranium hexafluoride (UF6) into Uranium Oxide (UOX) and Hydrofluoric Acid (HF). The Piketon plant site is regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy and plays a unique role in the U.S. nuclear power cycle. Piketon is located in South Central Ohio, 22 miles North of Portsmouth, 95 miles East of Cincinnati and 69 miles South of Columbus. Job Summary: Under minimal supervision, the Nuclear Safety Engineer is responsible for all nuclear safety engineering processes in support of the DUF6 Conversion Project at her/his assigned project location (Piketon or Paducah). Responsibilities: The Nuclear Safety Engineer is responsible for implementation and regulatory compliance of the company’s nuclear safety and fire prevention programs. · Revises and reviews safety documentation (DSA, TSR, SMP descriptions documents). · Prepares and reviews Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations (USQDs) · Reviews other project documentation that involves nuclear safety such as: plans, policies, procedures, SDD's, FDD's, engineering documents, to ensure proper implementation of the safety basis · Performs, revises, reviews analyses including hazard analyses (what-if's, HAZOPS) fault trees, event trees, FMEA's, reliability analyses, fire safety analyses, critical analyses and consequence analyses. · Provides technical guidance to management and personnel regarding nuclear safety.
