**About the Business Line** **Environment**
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary** AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented GIS Specialist for immediate employment for the Houston, Texas office\. The candidate should have a basic knowledge of both ESRI ArcMap 10\.X and Acad 2012 or Acad Map3D 2012 in order to create or revise figures for various projects in the environmental department\. Projects may include work in a variety of categories such as transportation, transit, pipeline, coastal resources management, environmental investigations, remediation planning and construction, air quality modeling, and other engineering and environmental consulting applications\.
This position is contingent upon award of contract\.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide support to a wide variety of GIS and AutoCAD needs, including spatial data creation, manipulation, and map graphics compilation\. Figures may include groundwater elevation maps, groundwater / soil COC maps, geologic cross\-sections, pipeline route maps, and any other illustrations related to engineering and environmental consulting\.
+ Contribute to the design of databases or development of geodatabases and systems\.
+ Prepare maps/GPS units for field crews\.
+ Analyze, convert or transfer data using GIS software\.
+ Prepare maps, figures, graphics, tables, etc\. for reports and other deliverables\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science or related field
+ Minimum two years of relevant experience
+ Master's degree in related discipline can substitute for up to two years of work experience
+ Working knowledge of both ESRI ArcMap 10\.X
+ Knowledge of cartographic principles, coordinate systems, and map projections
+ Able to multitask in a fast\-paced environment, pay great attention to detail, and have a good team attitude
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate proactive problem solving skills and exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility
+ Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre\-employment substance abuse test
