**Job Summary**
As part of a Safety management team at a major southern California international airport, provide direction and management for large projects, in excess of $50M\.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Oversee job safety inspection visits to observe Field Safety Inspectors
+ Assist Field Safety Inspectors in identifying areas of concern or noncompliance on job safety inspection visits
+ Evaluate Inspectors’ and contractors’ Daily Safety Reports to identify trending and consistency related to corrective actions
+ Meet with Inspectors regarding safety concerns and follow\-up actions taken by the contractor
+ Review written Safety Plan and results of safety performance and compliance in the field, on an ongoing basis, to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of both the construction management and contractor safety plans
+ Assist Construction Manager/Project Manager to review resumes, experience and qualifications for the contractor’s Safety Manager and/or Safety Superintendent/Safety Supervisor\(s\) to help verify that candidates for these positions meet contract requirements
+ Assist the Construction Manager/Project Manager to verify that contractors comply with written documentation requirements including weekly “toolbox” meetings, new employee orientation, daily safety inspection reports, any accident/incident and related investigation reports, provision of “competent” or authorized persons documentation including training records and any Job Hazard Analysis \(JHAs\)
+ Coordinate with Risk Management, as requested
+ Attend Project Progress and Project Safety Committee meetings as directed by the Program Safety Manager to monitor the ongoing safety effort of the Construction Manager and contractor
+ Attend Element Managers and Element meetings as directed by the Program Safety Manager to discuss management and personnel safety issues and concerns, as well as, to report on the ongoing safety status of projects
+ Meet with Construction, project and Element Managers \(individually\) at least weekly to discuss their specific safety concerns and relate project safety findings
+ Attend and participate in Construction Safety Advisory Committee Meetings, as directed by the Program Safety Manager
+ Obtain information on current and upcoming safety topics from local, state and federal safety officials by meeting with officials or attending webinars, conferences, trainings, etc\., as directed by the Program Safety Manager
**Minimum Requirements**
+ 4 year degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Safety and Health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Minimum of 10 years of verifiable professional safety experience on heavy construction projects, preferably in an aviation environment
+ Minimum of 3 years of previous staff management experience
+ Ability to teach others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
+ General Safety and Risk Management experience desired
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate safety policies and practices
+ Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software programs
+ Must have analytical reasoning and problem solving capabilities
+ Balanced approach to technical, business and people aspects of business
+ Flexibility to work multiple shifts as necessary \(including nights\)
+ First\-Aid/CPR/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens, Construction Health and Safety Technician \(CHST\), or Certified Safety Professional \(CSP\), or Certified Safety Manager
+ Authorized in OSHA Outreach Construction Training \(Both OSHA 500 and 5109\)
