Requisition Number: FS92188 Interest Category: Operations & Maintenance Interest Sub Category: Operations & Maintenance Job Title : Heavy Equipment Mechanic Employment Category/Status: full-time Type of Position: Regular Hire Country: U.S. State: Georgia City: Albany Minimum Requirements: URS Corporation is hiring qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanics in support of USMC Depot Augmentation - Albany, GA. High school diploma or equivalent training/experience and a valid drivers license. Five (5) years actual and recent vehicle or related weapons system experience desired; three (3) years required. Excellent ability to repair and maintain a variety of vehicles and equipment including, farm tractors, trailers, mobiles cranes, earth moving equipment forklifts (gasoline/diesel/electric/propane), generators, air compressors and fire trucks. Must know how to repair engine assemblies (gasoline and diesel), drive trains, fuel systems, suspension systems, emission systems, electrical systems and brake systems. Must have a valid Driver's License. “Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English” Position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Travel may be required and you must be able to possibly work shift work. Job Description: Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects. Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools. Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions. Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. Welds broken parts and structural members. May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment. May repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
