Skills and Knowledge
• Hydraulics of closed pipes and open channels
• Knowledge of wetland treatment systems and lakes
• Experience in Water Sensitive Urban Design
• Hydraulic modelling of gravity stormwater systems using DRAINS and/or InfoWorks
• 1-D and or 2D open channel hydraulic modelling using any of HEC-RAS, and or TUFLOW
• Detailed design skills in digital terrain modelling (12D)
• Stormwater Quality modelling, including MUSIC

Experience
• 5-10 years relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in Consulting

Job Description: The Civil Engineer will join the Transport & Infrastructure group in our Sydney Office and will be involved with multi-disciplined project teams to provide engineering consulting services to our internal and external clients particularly in the Transport & Infrastructure industry. The range of work would include provision of general engineering services primarily in stormwater & hydraulics, the environmental engineering industry and water sensitive urban design.
The role will include design and project management for a variety of projects. Specifically the role will entail field work, client liaison, analysis of information, design, preparation of technical reports, supervision and checking of the work of others, including engineers and drafters, preparation of proposals and management of projects, budgets and time.
Responsibilities/Objectives
The objective of the position is to collaborate with and organise the work of a small team of design professionals in the delivery of design and construction phase services.
Responsibilities include:
• Preparation of budgets and proposals for water, wastewater, drainage projects under the guidance of a Principal Engineer
• Meeting with clients and visiting sites to develop solutions to technical problems.
• Design work on water and drainage projects.
• Checking of designs, reports and specifications and provision of technical support to design team.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• Preparation and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Plans.
• Budget and time management for self and team members and delivery to clients.
• Writing technical reports.
• Deliver project services in accordance with Health & Safety systems, including audit programs.
• Participate in workgroup initiatives including technical activities.
• Perform other related duties from time to time, provided that they are consistent with your skills, competencies and expertise
• Work in a multidisciplinary team and under minimum supervision
• Apply a deeper understanding of Engineering principles to devise and deliver practical solutions to problems;
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients
• Support project teams in achieving strategic goals
