Requisition Number: IE103848 Interest Category: Environmental/Sciences Interest Sub Category: Geology Job Title : Geologist Employment Category/Status: part-time Type of Position: Temporary Country: U.S. State: Idaho City: Boise Minimum Requirements: • BS Degree in Geology, earth science, environmental geology, geophysics, or mining geology • Minimum two years of field data collection, data review and preparation of technical documents • Working knowledge of geologic principles and interpretations of subsurface conditions • Working knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and ArcGIS software • Basic understanding of groundwater movement in the subsurface • General understanding of contaminant migration in the subsurface • Basic understanding of groundwater hydrology • Must have current OSHA 40-hour hazwopper training or the ability to obtain prior to or immediately after starting a position with AECOM • General familiarity with environmental data collection and field documentation • The ability to interpret subsurface geologic environments, and knowledge of field instrument usage and calibration • Familiar with conducting global positioning system surveys, monitoring well installation, contractor supervision, and direct push technology sampling • Requires up to 70% field work and the ability to travel as needed • A valid driver's license is required • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: The Boise Environmental Services Group is seeking a entry level Geologist to support growing backlog of project work in the Boise, Idaho office. AECOM provides their employees with interesting and challenging projects and this position will include a diversity of projects throughout the State of Idaho and the SW Region. This work includes projects for local, state and federal clients providing remediation, environmental compliance and environmental monitoring for groundwater, surface water, and air quality regulatory needs. Additionally, working with the regulatory agencies this position will support ongoing projects for the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, Mountain Home Airforce Base, the Idaho Department of Transportation and private clients. This position will also provide GIS support for these projects and other environmental related projects. Opportunities to work in the greater SW Region of Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico and Nevada are also available. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below: • Collects groundwater samples using various sampling methods • Collects water, air and soil vapor quality measurements • Details field documentation and field activity logs • Collects soil samples using hand methods, drilling rig, and direct push technology • Collects air and soil vapor samples using various sampling methods • Conducts surveys using field instrumentation • Performs classification of soils and rock • Researches site specific and regional geology • Creates maps and figures showing contaminant distribution in different media • Writes contractor scopes of work and contributes sections to work plans and reports • Executes field activities in accordance with approved plans and specifications AECOM is a premier, fully integrated professional and technical services firm positioned to design, build, finance and operate infrastructure assets around the world for public- and private-sector clients.
