Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary**
We are looking to recruit Social Development Specialists at Senior Grade, to join our team in London\.
As an integral member of the Global Development team you will be involved in the delivery of social services to our private sector clients in the international markets\. Key responsibilities will include undertaking social components of ESIAs, social audits, resettlement action plans \(RAPs\), policy and corporate social responsibility assignments primarily across mining, energy, transport and infrastructure sectors\. Geographical areas of focus will be Africa \(including francophone countries\), Middle East and Central/ Eastern Europe\.
Working as either a member of a multidisciplinary team, or directly for Clients, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of the social componen of projects\. This might incude developing methodologies for defining the social baseline \(including executing survey questionnaires, focus group discussions, innovative community and stakeholder engagement exercises etc\), assessments of social impacts, defining mitigation measures, determining permitting and regulatory compliance of proposed and/or existing operations and assisting clients to meet the standards of international lenders\. You will also be involved in aiding corporate clients to design Community Investment Strategies and action CSR policies well as undertaking RAPs, compensation plans, and community development plans\.
You will work on projects around the world and will be required to assess projects in a wide range of international jurisdictions ranging from developed to less developed countries\. You should therefore be able to work overseas on short assignments\. You will also have a role in project manager where your role would involve work programme management, team input coordination, assistance in organizing overseas assignments, managing sub\-consultant contracts, delivery and payment etc\.
As part of a growing team the role will also involve development of the business internationally\. In this regard you will also aid in compiling major proposals in a coordinating capacity\.
**Minimum Requirements** You should have extensive international experince outside of UK including some experience in project assessment and evaluation against international standards, including the IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank Safeguard Policies, and/or European Bank for Reconstruction and Development \(EBRD\) Performance Requirements\. You will also some experience with a range of social impact assessment, mitigation and management methodologies\.
You will be required to travel internationally, but will be UK based\. You will have good communication skills both verbal and written, including preparation of technical opinion reports\. You will also have business development capability with a client oriented approach\. Knowledge of French, Spanish and/or Arabic is highly advantageous\.
**Preferred Qualifications** The successful candidate will have a post\-graduate qualification related to social development, be experienced in an area relevant to the services provided by the team and have working knowledge of international standards relevant to international financial institutions and lending agencies\.
