Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years recent and related experience. Experience with overhaul painting/depainting is also required. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 40 to 45 pounds. Requires the ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb and stand.
Must be able to successfully pass and maintain Security Clearance and have a valid driver’s license.
PFT and Respirator Fit test is required.

Must be available for any shift. Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.

Job Description: Completely knowledgeable and able to paint or remove paint from contract units in accordance with customer specifications. Understands and applies various corrosion control methods and technologies.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.
2. Prepare surface for painting by removing old paint from vehicles, using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic and sand media blasting techniques.
3. Smooth surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface.
4. Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils.
5. Paints and reattaches fixtures such as, decals to vehicles, equipment and parts.
6. Work involves the following: Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for difference applications. In general, the work of the maintenance painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feet; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
