Requisition Number: IE103785 Interest Category: Operations & Maintenance Interest Sub Category: Technician/ Field Services Job Title : UXO Tech I Employment Category/Status: full-time Type of Position: Temporary Country: U.S. State: Various Locations City: Various Locations Minimum Requirements: In accordance with Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board technical publication 18 (DDESB TP-18), UXO Technician I shall have: Graduate of an EOD assistant course or an accredited UXO technician training course 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training course completed and a valid driver's license Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: Field assignments may be CONUS/OCONUS. With direction and supervision from UXO-qualified personnel in accordance with Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board technical publication 18 (DDESB TP-18), an UXO Technician I's responsibilities may include the following: Conduct visual and/or detector-aided UXO and discarded military munitions (DMM) field search activities. Locate subsurface UXO and DMM by operating geophysical detection instruments and related equipment. Perform field maintenance and calibration checks on geophysical detection instruments and related equipment. Remove non-hazardous munitions debris and range-related debris, only after such items have been inspected by an UXO technician or UXO qualified personnel and determined to be safe for handling. Perform site/area security functions. Reconnoiter and classify UXO and DMM. Identify all types of military munitions, including possible fuses and their condition, armed or unarmed. Examples of these military munitions are: bombs, guided missiles, projectiles, rockets, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnic items, military explosives and demolition materials, grenades, and sub-munitions. Excavate subsurface UXO and DMM. Move and/or consolidate UXO and DMM that has been determined acceptable for movement within a Munitions Response Site (MRS) or Munitions Response Area (MRA), but not over public traffic routes, when required. Prepare firing systems, both electric and non-electric, for demilitarization operations. Operate personnel decontamination stations. Assist in the inspection of Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) for the presence of explosive hazards. Construct UXO-related protective works.
