Purpose and Scope:
The Consulting Engineer is responsible for providing engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the needs of the company, project, or contract.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required.
2. Leads various size groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists.
3. Uses data supplied by others to prepare a basic outline of work to be completed and establishes a schedule compatible with project goals and budgets.
4. Develops and documents all calculations for assignments.
5. Prepares and documents economic analyses and other system studies.
6. Provides progress reports and alerts others about delays and specialized conditions.
7. Prepares and presents expert testimony before regulatory bodies and courts.
8. Prepares and makes presentations to client and company management.
9. Contributes to technical literature in area of specialty.
10. Assists with the preparation of project scope within a specific discipline.
11. Works toward alignment of customer and company objectives.
12. Assists with interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline.
13. Fully understands the use of vendor documents and can review documents for accuracy.
14. Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.
