• Experience in managing Linux RedHat systems in a virtualized hosting environment.
• RHCE - Red Hat Certified Engineer
• Experience with shell/python/perl scripting
• Experience with HP, Oracle SPARC servers, VMware vCenter.
• Experience creating user accounts, handling day to day system and network problems in a RedHat environment/Solaris 10
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio
• ITIL v3 Foundation Certification
It is highly desirable that candidates have:
• Strongly desired – administrator-level experience with Red Hat Satellite Server 6.0
• Skill in using analytics, logic and reasoning to troubleshoot issues and find the best solutions to overcome challenges
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with conflicting priorities
•Previous experience supporting a Federal Government Agency
The operational position will also require occasional evening and after hours work. A successful candidate must be willing and capable of performing hands on remote access management activities and be responsible for those support activities within the team. Success in this role demands great customer service skills, strong technical knowledge and, excellent organizational skills.
Will require occasional travel [<10% ].
Participation in a 24x7 on call rotation will be required.

Job Description: AECOM has an immediate opportunity for a Unix/Linux RedHat System Administrator with a strong background in Virtualization, Linux, and Security to support a large government agency's capabilities in Washington, D.C (Union Station / Red Line).
This operational role will act as a system administrator in support of the Agencies Office Of Information Technology. This position covers work that is highly complex and varied in nature and would be recognized as an expert within this discipline.
he candidate will:
• Manage Red Hat and Solaris SPARC server farm through the entire product life-cycle from design to decommissioning. Coordinate and implemented OS upgrades. Be prepared to deploy new production servers both as a part of a long-term project or expedited delivery. Ensure data safety by coordinating efforts with Storage, Backup and VM teams. Write operational and security shell scripts for agency use.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Agency applications per project or operational needs. Be pro-active in identifying and addressing outstanding issues.
• Maintain Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and assist backup team in troubleshooting of failed backups. Desired experience with Tripwire.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. Follow strict agency guidelines for system access.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Responsible for troubleshooting server problems as identified by system management tools/reported by users. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Responsible for documenting solutions to problems as needed.
•Maintain security standards, review vulnerability reports on a regular basis and respond/remediate in a timely manner. Execute CIS scans and maintain server security posture accordingly.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Contribute to and maintain system standards. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
