**About the Business Line** **Environment**
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary** AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Health and Safety Professional/Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Clifton, NJ office\. This position is part of our Environmental Services Department and will report to the Compliance Group Leader\. Position involves providing technical support as required by discipline leaders and senior project managers\.
Candidate will perform field work; travel to project sites; conduct health and safety assessments to include observations, air monitoring, document review; conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments \(ESA\) and site investigations, which include the installation of monitoring wells and soil borings; collect soil and groundwater samples; and direct subcontractors\. Candidate will also compile boring logs, prepare of data tables and assist in report preparation\.
Projects will include recognition of soil profile characteristics, identification of contaminant plumes in groundwater, determination of impacted soil characteristics; characterization and remediation of commercial and industrial property impacted by the release of hydrocarbons and/or other hazardous constituents\.
Candidate may gradually assume more project responsibility \(budgets, client contact, negotiations with regulatory agencies\) and eventually develop skills to become a project manager on large, complex work assignments\.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
+ Conducting Health and Safety audits
+ Preparing/updating health and safety documents associated with various OSHA programs
+ Monitoring and prevention of hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area
+ Investigating accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards and productivity in the workplace
+ Planning and conducting employee Health and Safety training and emergency preparedness
+ Maintaining adequate records of pertinent data and compiling required reports on individual job occupational injury and illness experience
+ Providing support in the development, coordination and implementation of industrial hygiene programs
+ Performing environmental sampling and testing of water, soil and air
+ Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and preparing compliance reports
+ Inspecting industrial and municipal facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
+ Preparing, reviewing, and updating of environmental investigation and recommendation reports
+ Providing technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and/or Company environmental, safety and health regulations
+ Responsible for multiple Health & Safety duties on a small project or as a specialist on larger projects
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in safety, health or industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental engineering or demonstrated equivalent
+ Minimum 2\+ years of relevant work experience
+ Or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
+ Knowledge of federal and state environmental, and health and safety procedures and regulations
+ Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures
+ Assists in monitoring hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area
+ Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace
+ Participates in recommending improvements to processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards
+ Participates in employee training and emergency preparedness, as well as assures the quality of programs
+ Valid Driver’s License
