The Project Field Engineer is the person responsible for assisting the Project Superintendent in managing a construction project for Fling Engineering & Construction Co. As a leader, they are responsible for all project planning, communications associated with the project, including daily reporting to the Superintendent and the district Manager, coordinating with Superintendents and any required communications with the project Customer’s representatives. The Project Field Engineer is responsible for monitoring project costs and schedules to ensure completion of the project within budget and schedule.
In addition, the Project Field Engineer responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Monitor and evaluate project operations, especially in relation to established plans and budgets, and prepare reports and analyses for review with the Superintendent and District Manager.
• Maintain close communication, whether written or oral, with the Customer or their Representative, the Project Superintendent(s) and the District Management on the status of the project.
• Resolve problems and issues pertaining to change orders or extras to the original Scope of Work as quickly as possible through meetings with Customers, District Management and/or Subcontractors.
• Assist the Project Superintendent(s) in overseeing the hiring of labor, the ordering of materials, the utilization of equipment and adherence to the Contract.
• Assist the estimator in the identification and screening of subcontractors and after selection, monitor the status and performance of subcontracts.
• Assist the estimator in the inspection of potential job sites, assessment of potential contracts, estimating projects and the preparation of any pre-bid or bid documents.
• Knowledge and experience in management fundamentals: e.g., employees work assignment, delegation and motivation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to read and understand drawings.
• Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in fast paced environment
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of customers and employees.
• Knowledge and experience in business fundamentals: e.g., determining costs of operations, profit calculations, the impact of expenses and balance sheet, income statement.
