Specific skills and experience required: • 7 years of experience designing and maintaining standard build configurations for Solaris servers • 5 years of experience in implementing Solaris 10 • 8 years of experience managing Sun/Oracle server hardware • 3 years of experience managing severs in a virtual Solaris 10 environment • 5 years managing Solaris systems that support SAS or Sybase • Must work effectively as a member of a team and collaborate with peers • Possess excellent communication and documentation skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook (required). • Must be a self-starter, process oriented, and highly motivated • Extreme attention to detail required with excellent documentation skills. • Must be able to think independently. • Must be available for occasional after hours work. • Skill in managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously. • U.S. Citizen or have legal right to work in the USA without sponsorship with good financial background (Agency check will be required for this position). • Must be able to pass a NACI background check. Top Secret or Secret clearance preferred Job Description: AECOM is seeking a Senior Solaris / Unix Engineer to join our team in Washington, D.C. (Union Station Metro). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining standard system configurations based on physical and virtual Solaris systems that support Sybase, SAS, Matlab, and other data-intensive applications. This person must provide thought leadership on technologies that support Solaris, including enterprise patching, system hardening, and automated deployment. Will also be responsible for providing Engineering support to the customer development community to assist with application architecture, software installations, and system troubleshooting. The successful candidate for this position will work with the Systems Engineering Team to: • Map business requirements to technology designs • Perform market research and analysis of viable alternatives • Develop and maintain design and configuration documentation • Develop upgrade roadmaps for Solaris systems in the environment • Perform other duties as assigned.
