Job Responsibilities/Duties
Role:
Manage the planning, performance and reporting of human health and environmental risk assessments and performance assessments.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with WRPS policies and procedures.
- Ensure ISMS Principles are incorporated into organization's activities.
- Plan and direct execution of risk assessments and performance assessments.
- Ensure that these evaluations meet the requirements of DOE O 435.1, WAC 173-340, and CERCLA Guidance in support of tank farm facility closure activities or waste disposal site authorization.
- Manage direct staff (scientists, engineers and administrative support staff), matrixed staff and sub-contractors to complete assigned work.
- Perform project management and control account management functions for risk assessment and performance assessment scope.
- Form and direct teams including direct staff, matrix staff and sub-contractors to plan, implement and document risk assessment and performance assessment activities.
- Develop and monitor schedules and budgets to perform risk assessment/performance assessment activities.
- Develop and implement tools to communicate the risk assessment results to regulators and stakeholders.
- Present technical information about Risk/Performance Assessments to staff, DOE, Ecology, EPA, NRC, tribal nations, stakeholders, and the public.
- Integrate with other technical organizations including sub-contractors and national labs to define specific information needs for future risk assessments and performance assessments.
Required Qualifications
BS Degree in Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
Minimum of 15 or more years experience supporting environmental remediation. Minimum of 5 years management experience required.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a DOE environment preferred.
Masters Degree preferred.
Expertise preferred in methods used for scientific modeling/simulations (e.g. risk assessment/fate and transport modeling, waste chemistry modeling, process flowsheet modeling, or similar activities).
Experience in the use of risk assessment modeling software tools such as STOMP or Goldsim preferred.
Prefer experience directly related to performance assessments per Chapter IV "Low-Level Waste Requirements" of DOE 435.1-1G.
Demonstrated evidence of written communication skills (e.g. through technical publications).
Project management experience preferred.
