More information on AECOM and its services can be found at www\.aecom\.com\. **About the Business Line** **Environment** Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\. **Job Summary** Aecom seeks a Senior Marine Scientist for environmental operations in Qatar\. + This position primarily involves managing projects from start to completion that occur within the Environmental Management service line that is part of AECOM Environment\. + The incumbent will be responsible for the procurement of some projects and execution of these projects within this sector\. + The types of project work that would be included are: Environmental Impact Assessments \(EIAs\), site investigations, offshore marine surveys, ROV surveys, diving, regulatory compliance work, regulatory knowledge management, environmental due diligence assessments, etc\. + The Senior Marine Scientist is accountable for providing independent task planning, execution, analysis, and reporting for specific discipline under general direction\. The individual will research and solve technical problems in accordance with accepted practice/methodology and report on results\. Duties and Responsibilities: + Procuring projects within UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and/or other GCC countries by seeking opportunities for environmental consultancy services and preparing tender documents for the project\. + Meeting with potential and actual clients to discuss the scope of the project\. + Executing the project by, for example, performing research, project planning, compiling data, preparing technical reports for assessment by the Government, coordinating sub\-consultants, reviewing technical reports prepared by sub\-consultants, conducting field work \(including environmental assessment, monitoring & sampling where necessary\), meeting with clients to discuss the progress of the project at various milestones reached & effectively managing the budget allocated for the project\. + Mentoring less experienced staff by, for example, providing assistance with technical matters, supervising & reviewing work for continual improvement & engaging staff in projects being managed to ensure the staff meet project, quality and section performance objectives\. + Providing technical expertise for a variety of environmental projects, + Presenting visual material for clients, including presentations related to projects\. + Aim to ultimately build the quantity of Marine scientists in the team working on projects, particularly those projects related to EIA’s and Marine Surveys\. + Work independently and autonomously to achieve project goals\. + Work in a safe and responsible manner both in the office and in the field\. + Perform specific tasks per accepted techniques in accordance with appropriate regulations\. Make specific recommendations on the basis of analysis and results\. Compile and present results as an individual or member of task force\. + Communicate effectively both through written reports, letters, e\-mails and in oral discussions\. **Minimum Requirements** + OSHA 40\-hour or 24\- hour Health & Safety training\. + Basic office computer skills \(Word, Excel, internet searching, etc\.\)\. + Proficient in technical writing and verbal communication in English\. + Technically proficient in Marine Scienes and specific scientific or engineering area or discipline\. + Knowledge & understanding of generally accepted “Best Practice Environmental Management” in Oil and Gas industry settings\. + Direct experience in the field working for clients in the performance of projects expected to be within the jurisdiction of the section\. + Ability to manage projects from start to completion \. **Preferred Qualifications** + PHD or M\.S\. in Marine Science/ Marine Biology/ Marine Ecology/ Marine engineering/ Environmental science\. **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people\.
