Summary
Provides specialized and some generalist technical assistance to company and field operations on moderate to high risk scopes of work to ensure compliance with applicable, Federal, State, Local and/or company safety and health regulations. Under minimal guidance, applies sophisticated principles gained through formal education and/or comprehensive work experience. Monitors and analyzes high risk workplace activities and potential hazards to support initiatives within assigned facility(s) through review of work packages, walk downs, and observations. Responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the public.
Responsibilities
• Incorporate conventional Safety and Health (S&H) practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and programmatic planning where specific detailed objectives are stated.
• Evaluate proposals within a given specialty and makes recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks.
• Collaborate with design teams to identify safety and health specifications and design requirements of moderate to high risk for work packages.
• Educate and observe ensuring that all personnel are performing work in compliance with governing work documents.
• Perform comprehensive practices of S&H by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational hazards in the workplace through job scope reviews, walk downs, and general observations.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards of moderate to critical impact.
• Responsible for compiling and providing all documentation from investigations to support legal claims made against company.
• Conduct facility assessments within a given specialty.
• Attend facility meetings as requested by management.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understating of company and industry specific regulatory requirements/standards and official interpretations.
• Identify innovative materials, systems, and/or processes to enhance the company’s safety culture through research.
• Utilize comprehensive experience to develop, implement and maintain safety and health programs, systems and procedures within a specialized field.
• Research and procures innovative techniques, materials, and equipment to incorporate into the company while ensuring high quality of programs. Responsible for piloting and training employees of newly implemented items.
• Prepare and review written programs, job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments and other health and safety program elements.
• Promote compliance with required Experience Modification Rate (EMR), Total Recordable Case (TRC) and Days Away Restricted or Transferred (DART) established goals. Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illness per company requirements.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for a specific S&H discipline.
• Generate trending reports for performance indicators as requested. Track personnel and facility exposure doses.
• Assign, track, and send reminders to complete facility S&H required reading assignments. Generate and review trending reports through Site Tracking, Analysis & Reporting (STAR) application.
