Must be a US Citizen. 2. Must possess an active US Government security clearance or be able to obtain such clearance by meeting all requirements within 1 year of hire. 3. Must have a valid driver’s license. 4. High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent. 5. 3 years of experience in the installation and terminating of facilities CAT5, CAT6 and fiber optic cabling and components, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Proficiency in pulling, terminating and testing CAT5/CAT6 and fiber cable. 2. Experience installing patch panels and switches, reading cabling diagrams, and terminating cables (CAT5/CAT6 and Fiber). 3. Experience using various test equipment for testing, troubleshooting and certifying cables. 4. Experience in pairing for punch downs and plug installations. 5. Experience with installation and troubleshooting of CCTV and IP security cameras. 6. Ability to ID active voice and data circuits. 7. Maintenance experience, including repairing doors and locks, restroom fixtures and general plumbing, and performing preventive maintenance. 8. Experience working in a CMMS environment. 9. Proficient with MS Office programs. (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, etc.) 10. Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written, with our client, management and fellow employees. Physical Requirements: • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift. • Requires the ability to work from heights. • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift. • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift. • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift. • Requires the ability to stretch / reach on a repetitive basis for shift. • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift. • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding. • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement. • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Special Requirements: • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed. • Coping with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained. • Must complete daily paperwork. Work Environment: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles or dust; high voltage; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation; and vibration. • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. • May be required to work in confined, restricted and/or hot areas. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Job Description: URS, an AECOM company, is seeking a 1st shift General Maintenance / Fiber Optic Technician III in Suffolk, VA! The typical work schedule is 8-hour shifts on Monday – Friday, sometime between the hours of 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Daily working hours may vary based on business demand. Primary functions of this position will include, but are not limited to, assisting the facilities team on general facilities equipment maintenance as well as a variety of tasks such as pulling and terminating audio and visual cabling CAT5 and CAT6 copper and fiber optic cabling. Also, maintain the client’s facility while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards. Under general supervision, performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This is not a comprehensive list of all essential job functions. Successful candidate must be able to adapt with to ever- changing job task requirements. Essential Functions: • Install video and data cable with CAT5/CAT6 as well as fiber cable. • Install patch panels, switches, read blue prints/cabling diagrams, terminate cables, label, test and certify cabling. • Troubleshoot problems and provide accurate, clear and concise documentation. • Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser, use of volt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot open and crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cables. • Identify an active voice or data circuit. • Perform repairs, modifications and preventive maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures and systems • Provides assistance to the skilled technicians in the area of preventive maintenance on equipment and building systems. • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain facilities systems. • Perform general / light plumbing repairs to rest room fixtures. • Clean drains. • Assist in the movement of furniture, materials and equipment as required. • Hangs mark boards, pictures, display case • Perform work based on daily/weekly work schedules. • Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies and instructions, etc.). • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. • Work with or oversee subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule. • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
