**About the Business Line** **Water**
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design\-build\.
**Job Summary** We are looking to recruit a **Senior Engineer** to join our busy Development Infrastructure team in Birmingham\. The team tackles a wide variety of projects located both in the UK and overseas\. The team are routinely involved in the engineering aspect of master planning major projects\. This is an ideal opportunity for a suitably experienced Engineer to develop their career and assist in the technical direction and future development of this team\.
Role:
+ Work under the direction of Project Manager/Project Director\.
+ Take responsibility for the technical feasibility/design for development projects in the disciplines of drainage, roads, flooding, utilities, earthworks and sustainability\.
+ As necessary manage staff to form a small project team, liaise with the project client, deal with commercial issues and represent the team internally and externally at an appropriate level\.
+ Act as Deputy Project manager \(DPM\) on selected projects to ensure work is produced in accordance with client’s brief and to agreed programme and budget/margin\.
+ Prepare technical reports and specifications and check work/specifications of sub\-ordinates\.
+ Assist senior management in the preparation of technical and financial proposals\.
+ Contribute with respect to technical development, market sectors and processes\. Develop client relationships, secure repeat business work where possible and actively seek new work from existing clients\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Experience of development infrastructure projects from feasibility, through the planning process and detailed design for implementation\.
+ Experience of working as part of multi\-disciplined projects as deputy project manager/ task leader\.
+ Experience of liaising with government departments, local authorities, water and utility companies, Environment Agency and other public bodies and deliver necessary approvals\.
+ Good experience of development projects with proven track record of delivery\.
+ Creative flair and energy\. Willingness to travel for work\. Experience in supervising and developing staff\.
+ Some knowledge of other work streams including transportation, sustainable energy, geotechnical and geo\-environmental and river and ground modeling would be an advantage\.
+ Commitment to CPD and self\-learning\.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Relevant degree, working towards chartered status, membership of appropriate institute \(MICE, MCIHT or MCIWEM\)\. However, applications from those with an appropriate mix of academic qualifications and practical experience will be considered\.
+ Computer software literate including MSWord, MSExcel, WinDes \(Microdrainage\) and PDS or MX and CAD at advanced level\.
+ Experience of Civils 3D design would be advantageous\.
