**Job Summary** The Industrial, Power, Oil & Gas business unit of AECOM in Austin, Texas, is seeking an mid\-level **Mechanical Engineer** to function as part of a multi\-discipline project team to deliver design packages and technical work on assigned projects\. The candidate will be required to perform design and analysis of mechanical equipment, piping systems and structural elements in support of projects across multiple industries, including Power, Industrial, Oil and Gas\. Accountable for the completion of assignments to the high standards of AECOM and the Client, within budget and schedule\. Typical projects can range in value from $100,000 to $50,000,000 and encompass all phases, including engineering, procurement and construction\.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Maintaining a good attitude
+ PE licensing \(by exam\) is required for advancement but not initial hiring
+ Supervise and mentor junior staff
+ Work on a multidiscipline team \(including project management/controls, engineering, procurement and construction\) as a lead mechanical/piping engineer\-of\-record executing EPC projects which will include:
- Developing engineering estimates, including scope, budget and schedule
- Managing \(responsible for\) schedule and budget in coordination with Project Management
- Performing or reviewing hydraulic and stress calculations for equipment sizing and/or piping design
- Utilization of industry\-standard software packages is required for engineering calculations
- Knowledge and application of industry codes and standards
- Working with design/drafting team to develop plans and drawings for construction; must be able to review from the perspective of a lead engineer\-of\-record
- Developing or reviewing equipment specifications \(pumps, tanks, pressure vessels, etc\.\) for purchase
- Working with vendors to finalize equipment design and submittal details
- Providing field support \(travel required\) during construction and start\-up
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering
+ 5\+ years’ experience
+ Must have experience functioning as a lead mechanical engineer executing EPC projects in Oil & Gas or Power industries
+ Must be able to review or execute engineering calculations as necessary for the design of equipment or piping
+ Must be able to apply industry codes and standards
+ Must have experience mentoring and supervising junior staff
+ Strong analytical and communication skills
+ Capable of functioning with spreadsheets, word processing and standard engineering software
+ Pursuit of PE licensing is expected, however, a PE license is not required for initial hiring
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge and application of industry codes and standards including API and ASME
