Our global network of top\-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries\. **Job Summary** Managing and improving the way in which freight moves is a crucial part of maintaining the economy and improving quality of life\. AECOM’s Freight and Logistics Team works with clients to manage, plan and deliver travel and freight transport in ways that optimise environmental outcomes without compromising economic and social objectives\. AECOM offers a complete multi\-modal service of freight research, feasibility studies, master\-planning, performance review, site development and behavioural change programmes for the public and private sectors; delivering sustainable freight solutions with specific emphasis on measures that can have positive safety and emissions outcomes\. Our clients include government agencies, regional authorities, private sector developers and operators of freight transport across all transport modes\. The Freight Sector Leader will be required to manage and build the capabilities of the Freight and Logistics team in the UAE specifically, and the Middle East generally\. Reporting to the Director of SP&A, this position requires the candidate to proactively identify, track, and win opportunities to support the overall growth of the Transport Planning Practice Line and the Civil Infrastructure Business Line\. Job Duties The duties of the Freight and Logistics Sector Leader fall broadly into two categories – Business Development and Technical Management\. Key duties are as follows\. Business Development + Ensure key strategic relationships with internal and external partners, clients and stakeholders are effectively developed, managed and maintained + Develop relationships within the regions and business lines to ensure effective utilization of staff and resources across the Middle East + Manage, lead and produce technical and financial bids for projects in the region and across other business lines + Ensure delivery is in line with the Business Line’s corporate objectives, on time and within the agreed budget + Effectively represent AECOM to relevant government departments, external agencies and other bodies appropriate to the post + Plan, direct and deliver the Services in accordance with appropriate procedures and legislation + Develop and implement initiatives to enhance AECOM’s Freight and Logistics offering, product, and supporting infrastructure \(e\.g\. software, modelling tools, training and support services\) + Maintain appropriate liaison with the business community, stakeholder and advisory groups + Maintain a watching brief on best working practices within and beyond local government, and ensure these are effectively communicated to the team + Identify and recruit talent into the Freight team to enhance local capabilities and grow the business in accordance with workload + Liaise with other AECOM geographies to maximize the AECOM offering Technical Management + Effectively advise on policies and their implementation and the related allocation of resources in relation to all services covered by this post + Takes the lead on relevant projects + Be aware of and adhere to relevant legislation, codes of practice and departmental policies when planning and directing the delivery of Freight and Logistics projects in the region + Continuously improve technical and industry knowledge by participating in forums and other industry related programs + Research, analyse and report on a range of quantitative and qualitative freight transport related projects + Prepare tender submissions + Act as Project Manager or Project Director, as necessary + Develop detailed methodologies + Produce guides, case studies and deliver presentations + Undertake data recording and analysis tasks + Manage the preparation of client reports, bringing together the contributions from other specialist areas of the business + Review internal processes for effectiveness and efficiency and suggest possible areas for improvement where necessary + Other duties as required **Minimum Requirements** The following skills are required; + Minimum 10 years experience and knowledge regarding the organization of logistics, environmental impacts of freight transport, and carbon management and sustainability issues\. + Comprehensive appreciation of policy and regulatory frameworks for the management of freight and logistics + Appreciation of heavy vehicle engineering, safety management systems, efficiency interventions and driver management + Good understanding of statistics or the underlying principles sufficient to interpret quality of data / infer when conclusions can be drawn from surveys + Sound database / spreadsheet skills or preferably abilities in statistical / transport modelling software and the ability to handle large data sets + Excellent Project Management skills + Sound commercial acumen and business plan development **Preferred Qualifications** Degree level qualification or higher\.
