More information on AECOM and its services can be found at www\.aecom\.com\. **About the Business Line** **Environment** Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\. **Job Summary** AECOM requires a highly experienced environmental permitting and compliance specialist to play a key role in growing and expanding URS’ environmental permitting and compliance service in the south of England and Midlands\. This region represents a significant potential growth opportunity for URS and we need a very experienced and very well connected individual to work alongside the existing T&C management team to grow the business and raise URS’ profile in this region\. We also require a regional technical expert to deliver, review and sign off detailed technical proposals and to act as Project Director on technical environmental permitting and compliance projects\. Primary responsibilities will include acting as Proposal/Project Director for permitting and compliance projects, co\-ordinating with internal \(UK and international\) AECOMteams & disciplines, and liaising with clients to deliver focused and successful proposals and projects whilst managing URS’ potential liabilities and exposure\. Liaison with senior client representatives and regulators will be required to scope proposals, present progress updates and discuss project results\. Other responsibilities include: • Lead and coordinate and/or be a key team member in preparing, costing and delivering successful technical proposals for environmental permitting \(including COMAH\) and compliance projects, and similar scopes of work\. • Lead and coordinate and/or be a key team member in delivering detailed environmental permitting and compliance projects related to complex industrial facilities, covering a wide spectrum from food & drink, through chemicals, to oil & gas \(e\.g\. petrochemical refineries\)\. Such work will include overseeing and contributing to the preparation of environmental permit applications \(new applications, variations, surrenders etc\.\), providing ongoing permitting support \(e\.g\. BAT options appraisals, recommending and directing environmental monitoring programmes or dispersion modelling etc\.\), environmental aspects of COMAH, and providing senior technical leadership on corporate environmental compliance audit programmes and industrial environmental compliance issues\. • You will be responsible for liaising with senior client management and environmental regulators etc\. as required, ensuring that the detailed nature of any particular issue is fully understood so that an acceptable, appropriate and technically correct solution can be achieved\. • You will be responsible for undertaking peer reviews of technical reports and proposals prepared by others in your subject area, including checking and commenting on scope, content, methodologies, conclusions and recommendations etc\. to ensure that all deliverables fulfil the client’s requirements and provide commercially focused and technically correct/appropriate advice and recommendations\. The position is based in Wimbledon, Greater London, and there will be a requirement to travel within the UK \(predominantly in the south of England and Midlands\) with potential occasional overseas travel\. **Minimum Requirements** You must have experience in the following: • Extensive, industry\-leading professional knowledge of the application of UK and European environmental permitting \(including COMAH\) and compliance legislation in an industrial setting, and the ability to assess compliance against such legislation in a complex industrial environment\. • High level of commercial awareness and the ability to provide appropriate, commercially practicable solutions/recommendations\. • Strong commercial and financial knowledge of issues affecting operation of the T&C team, including proposal preparation and costing \(appropriate to the opportunity being tendered for\), project financial budgeting and performance, legal contracts, reliance agreements, professional behaviours, limitations and liabilities etc\. • Strong and demonstrable people management knowledge and ability including client liaison and line management • Proven project director with ability to manage the financial and technical aspects of technically complex and large\-scale permitting and compliance projects, including coordinating multi\-regional and multi\-disciplinary project teams\. • Experienced business developer with demonstrable track record of winning >£1\.5 million of new sales per year\. • Experience of hands\-on environmental permitting and compliance management in an industrial or regulatory setting would be advantageous\. **Preferred Qualifications** Higher Degree in relevant subject IChemE or equivalent preferred AECOM Reference: Remediation services **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people\.
