Minimum Requirements: POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications:
• Completion of formal apprenticeship or similar accredited training program (such as vocational, trade, commercial, or military) in the electrical field or journeyman certification and 4 years' industrial maintenance experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service or manufacturing plant
Or
• High school diploma or equivalent and 6 year's industrial electrical maintenance experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service or manufacturing plant
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) site access
• Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
• Must have thorough understanding of electrical equipment operation and maintenance
• Must be able to use common electrical hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, strippers, knives, drill motors, and test equipment
• Must have experience working with high voltage (480v-13.2kv)
Desired Qualifications
• Understanding of hazardous materials, furnaces, scrubber systems, management procedures, and techniques
• Considerable knowledge/experience making real time process/production decisions representing plant management
• Experience in start-up of facilities, utilities, and heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems
• Journeyman electrical license
• Experience in a toxic or hazardous materials work environment
• Experience in heavy industrial work environment
• Experience with Explosive Destruction Technology (EDT) or chemical weapons demilitarization
Job Description: POSITION DESCRIPTION
Typical Responsibilities Include:
This is a dual function position to maximize job efficiency on the EDT project. This position will also perform duties as a Munitions Handler.
• Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees
• Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations
• May be required to work overtime or varying hours
• Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record
• Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility
Electrical Technician Duties
• Perform a variety of electrical trade functions including modifications, revisions, and corrective and preventive maintenance on facility systems, equipment, and components (e.g., generators, switchgear, transformers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), motors, HVAC units, control and power circuits)
• Perform journeyman level duties in the installation of conduit, cable trays, raceways, wiring, and other associated electrical equipment in support of plant configuration
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications in performing duties to ensure system integrity is maintained.
• Perform emergency repairs to systems, equipment, and components; record the as-found condition as well as the repaired condition; and analyze system characteristics to determine the cause of failure
• Conduct post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment, and components as necessary to complete work packages and to ensure systems, equipment, and components are returned to operational conditions
• Assist vendors with performing electrical maintenance tasks that are beyond the EDT Department's capability; provide technical support for this work
• Assist Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment, and components.
• Work with other EDT maintenance, waste management, and operational personnel as a consolidate team to cooperatively complete tasks
• Assure code and building standards are met.
• Supports and performs general maintenance activities on facilities within the EDT complex
• Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team
Munitions Handler Duties
• Must comply with conduct of operations
• Follow specific direction of Area Supervisor or Control Room Operator as appropriate.
• Operate Mini-Continuous Air Monitoring Systems (MiniCAMS) to verify entrants, munitions, containers and waste are free of agent contamination
• Handle, store, transport, and prepare chemical munitions for processing
• Perform training to support munitions handling operations
• Obtain certification as forklift/fork truck operator
• Obtain certification as stationary crane operator
• Secure and safeguard surety material
• Perform munitions accountability
• Prepare dunnage and waste stream materials (e.g., wooden pallets, drummed waste, etc.) for proper disposal
• Perform facility checks and operate system equipment to include environmental inspections
• Complete data sheets, logs, records, and other operational documentation as required for equipment and systems in assigned functional areas
• Preform housekeeping within the facility processing area
• Serve as a member of the EDT toxic area entry team
• Perform agent area entries to support operations and maintenance using the proper protective equipment
• Assist with the development, review, and/or validation of all standard operating procedures associated with assigned duties
• Perform other collateral duties as assigned for the operations of the EDT and BGCAPP main plant projects
