Requisition Number: FS104288 Interest Category: Operations & Maintenance Interest Sub Category: Operations & Maintenance Job Title : Mech 1 Corrosion Shop Employment Category/Status: full-time Type of Position: Regular Hire Country: U.S. State: Virginia City: Norfolk Minimum Requirements: URS Corporation is immediately hiring a qualified Aircraft General Repair Mechanic (corrosion) in support of U.S. Navy aircraft operations at Norfolk, VA. Shift work and detachments are required. High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum three (3) years actual and recent organizational level aircraft corrosion control/aircraft painting experience is required. Must have completed military aviation maintenance training or aviation maintenance technical school curriculum. Candidate must have completed an approved U.S. Navy Aircraft Corrosion Control and Aircraft Painting Course or equivalent. Candidates with prior U.S. Navy (8305 NEC) E-2C/C-2A corrosion control experience are preferred. Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks. May be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check. Job Description: The Aircraft Mechanic 1 (Corrosion) will perform scheduled and unscheduled corrosion control maintenance on assigned aircraft. Inspections include but are not limited to, aircraft structures, skin surfaces, removed aircraft components, landing gear and flight control surfaces. This mechanic must be knowledgeable in all forms of aircraft corrosion detection, prevention and treatment. Upon detection of an affected aircraft area, this mechanic must to able to perform the proper corrective action. Upon completion of this maintenance action, this mechanic must be able to enter in the maintenance records, description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed correctly and complies with all customer requirements. This employee will use hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as orbital sanders, high speed pneumatic grinders and aircraft paint guns. This worker reads and interprets aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair. This mechanic performs daily, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections. This incumbent can be called on to supervise other junior in grade employees and perform in-process and final inspections of any maintenance perform in this area of expertise and will keep aircraft in safe operating condition This worker will be required to work with various hazardous materials and must be knowledgeable in their storage, use and disposal.
