Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related filed and at least 10 or more years’ experience.
Candidates should have:
• Understanding of systems security engineering concepts, principles and theories.
• Strong working knowledge of a least one adjacent discipline (security, software, systems, networks, etc.).
• Working knowledge and ability to apply layered security architectures and designs.
• Experience with researching and mitigating vulnerabilities
• Effective in communicating issues, impacts and corrective actions.
• Understanding of NIST and Security Technical Implementation Guide security controls
• Ability to clearly report information relevant to sound systems security engineering design.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Familiarity with host based and network based security concepts.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems as well as appropriate scripting languages.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and techniques.
It is highly desirable that candidates have:
• Skill in using analytics, logic and reasoning to troubleshoot issues and find the best solutions to overcome challenges
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with conflicting priorities
• Previous experience supporting a Federal Government Agency
•Federal IT Security Professional Certification

May be required to work evenings and weekends. Participation in a 24x7 on call rotation may be required. May be required to travel to SEC locations and data centers (<10% travel required)
Job Description: AECOM has an immediate opportunity for a Security Engineer with a strong background in Vulnerability assessment and mitigation to support a government agency's capabilities in Washington, D.C (Union Station / Red Line).
This operational role will act as a security & systems engineer in support of the agency. In this role you will participate in activities to identify risk based solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities that have been identified within the agency’s Information Technology Systems including:
• Analyze output from security scans to determine impact and risk of vulnerabilities
• Determine if the scan results are false-positive
• Determine resolution for remediating vulnerability
• Work with application owners to test remediations in a lab environment
• Assist application owners in developing a POA&M if proposed remediation has a negative effect on the existing application
