Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy “C” School or vocational school, with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance and equipment manufacturer training. Five years’ experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
-Digital/analog signal processing;
-Digital communications networks;
-Weapons Delivery Scoring Systems (WISS, Acousti-score, LSTSS, IWTS, BDA etc.);
-Synchro-servo circuits;
-Electromechanical devices;
-Video surveillance systems;
-Intrusion Detection Systems (passive and active);
-Video signal processing and recording;
-Communications (multiplexer equipment, VHF, UHF, microwave, fiber-optic);
-Digital/analog computer systems;
-DC power supplies;
-Test equipment;
-Optical equipment;
-RF signal processing;
-Low voltage AC equipment;
-Primary and secondary power equipment;
-Auto-transfer (UPS) equipment;
-Portable AC generators;
-SRSMS/Comm/Video O&M;
-Remote equipment status systems.
-MITSS (MANPADS Integrated Threat Simulator/Stimulator
Ability to speak, read, and write English. Capable and certified to climb/descend towers carrying equipment. Must maintain current COMSEC certification. Must maintain Laser Safety Certification. Must possess a valid state Driver’s License. Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. Must maintain a secret level security clearance.
Job Description: Performs systems maintenance and operations. Solves complex problems that typically cannot be solved by referring to manufacturers’ manuals by applying advanced technical knowledge.
As senior technician, applies advanced technical knowledge in complex troubleshooting, isolating malfunctions, repairing to the component level, and incorporating engineering changes. Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of analog, digital, mechanical, and RF operating system diagnostics and circuits. Exercises independent judgment on tasks such as making circuit analyses, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, and computer analytical equipment. Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Performs organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on assigned equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance with accepted practices. Provides LAN/WAN/PC assistance as necessary.
Designated as primary Laser System Safety Officer (LSSO) and live drop safety observer.
Will be operationally qualified at designated tech level within 90 days of hiring or promotion.
Cross-trained and qualified to operate multiple systems.
