Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:
• Working with the project SDE, sets and modifies the procedures for the preparation and execution of project scope as it relates to a specific discipline.
• Able to assist management in the development of business strategies and plans.
• Fully understands and is able to apply financial terminology and measures.
• Understands the proposal process, assigns tasks and acts as an advisor to discipline staff in the preparation of proposals.
• Fully versed in the company's business development process.
• Fully versed with and able to guide others in interpreting codes and the permitting process as it relates to a discipline.
• Assists and guides others in reviewing and checking construction and vendor drawing details.
• Able to help evaluate existing and prospective CADD tools.
• Sets the level of detail for a discipline with regards to requisitions and understands the role of materials management.
• Assists with the establishment of guidelines and processes for the development of manpower, man-hour and labor cost requirements for engineer's discipline for projects.
• Verifies that all estimates accurately contain all the detail scope and cost components, as well as identification of potential areas of risk, including schedule attainment and the validity of resource loading requirements.
• Has an advanced level of knowledge of costs and can verify that all project material costs and forecasts of costs are accurate for a specific discipline.
• Able to establish guidelines and processes for planning and scheduling engineering activities within a specific discipline.
• Assists with establishing a consistent, uniform method for the project change control process, and can train others and identify potential changes within a discipline.
• Oversees staff's continuous professional development.
• Participates in staffing decisions for projects.
• Assumes mentoring/coaching and training role and identifies prospective high potential employees to management.
• Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to Engineering.
