**About the Business Line** **Environment**
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary** Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, Environment, this position is the overall lead responsible for the development, implementation and measurement of best practices for occupational health, safety, environmental, and regulatory affairs of the Environment Business Line\. It is anticipated that the role will eventually extend to other Business Lines including Oil & Gas, Power & Industrial and National Governments\. The Director, SH&E is the safety leader for the respective business line and key clients\. He/she ensures safety and applicable compliance regulations are enforced for all employees, work sites, equipment and vehicles, and is responsible for ensuring our stated safety program objectives and metrics are achieved throughout the area of responsibility\.
The Director, SH&E engages, motivates and aligns the business line towards SH&E objectives, as well as develops, recommends and implements related policies and procedures\. This position is responsible for leading the SH&E staff in providing original, proactive, and creative problem solving along with best\-in\-class programs for the improvement of health, safety, environmental and regulatory programs\.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Position provides strategic leadership and direction related to occupational safety, health, and the environment \(compliance\) to the Environment Business Line globally\.
+ Assures alignment of the Environment Business Line SH&E program with the broader AECOM Corporate SH&E management system and participates and contributes to the continuous improvement of both\.
+ Communicates regularly with all staff and stakeholders in form and content aligned with our Corporate and Business Line approaches\. Provides regular updates & reports on performance, drives the sharing of lessons learned and best practices, an exemplary SH&E message of industry leadership to the broader Environmental Market\.
+ Assures, through collaboration with Regional SH&E resources, AECOM Environment Business Line operations are in compliance with all Local, State, and Federal Environmental and Safety regulations\.
+ Ensures Environment Business Line personnel are properly trained \(corporate and functional\) in the necessary policies procedures and skills necessary for the safe and compliant performance of their roles\. Assesses and fills gaps in our training program through a combination of external and internally developed training\.
+ Provides technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for AECOM’s Key Clients/Major Programs and Major Projects on regulatory compliance issues in Health, Safety and Environment\.
+ Leads our incident management and return to work process and conducts key incident reviews / investigations and ensures both communication of lessons learned and incorporation of such into our SH&E program\.
+ Support our Marketing and Sales function on delivery of presentations to Key Clients and at various seminars and conferences\. Coordinates development of SH&E messaging for the AECOM Sales staff to enable them to conduct environmental presentations with authority/credibility\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ A minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively responsible Health and Safety roles, with a minimum of 7 years in a Health & Safety at a senior level \(Director or above\)
+ Bachelor's degree in Safety, SH&E Management, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Safety or a related field required
+ A Master's degree in any of those fields listed above is preferred
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Certifications in SH&E, Certified Industrial Hygienist desirable
+ Extensive training in SH&E requirements \(ex\. OSHA; ISO & similar\)
+ Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists
+ Highly effective written and verbal communications skills that can used with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels
+ Highly developed interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity
+ Demonstrated highly effective platform presentation skills and training delivery skills
+ Ability to travel 40%, on average,of the time including travel to challenging locations
