**Job Summary** Due to diversification into a new market within the Materials Laboratory team, AECOM have a rare opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join a growing laboratory sub\-team with opportunities progression assured\. The successful candidates will join the Materials Laboratory Chemical sub\-team and will be required to undertake a range of analytical style chemistry test to the high quality standards of a UKAS testing laboratory\. The role will require the successful candidate to carry our testing both form with in the Nottingham laboratory, however on the rare occasion the successful candidate may be required to carry out some in the field test from locations within the UK\.
Salary will depend on qualifications and experience, weighted towards experience\.

As part of the laboratory you will be working for a range of various internal and external clients split approximately 90\-10\.
The team delivers a multitude of different laboratory test and services for a wide range of engineering and research projects to support the other AECOM business lines both within the Nottingham office and other offices worldwide\.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and include organization such as The Highways Agency and Network Rail\. We also have a proven track record of successfully delivering projects for Transport for London and the London Underground\.
Projects:
Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international highway and infrastructure improvements\. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
• Network Rail ballast and trackbed renewals across the entire UK rail network\.
• Assisting in the feasibility study into the use of the the M6 Junction13\-15 for the Manage Motorways scheme\.
• Development of bespoke large scale railway ballast testing machine to be rolled out for use across the UK rail Network\.
• Long\-term performance monitoring of Hong Kong International Airport\.
• Developing bespoke tests and techniques to provide confidence in the use of smart cats\-eyes and street furniture\.
Job Responsibilities:
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
• Taking receipt of test samples and registration them into the laboratory systems\.
• The preparation of chemical test samples, including sorting, crushing, washing and creating test mixtures\.
• Loading of the testing apparatus such as X\-Ray Fluorescence and Gas Chromatography Flame Ionization Detection equipment\.
• Production of laboratory test reports\.
• Monitoring quality status and progress of projects to ensure delivery on time, to the specific requirement of the client\.
**Minimum Requirements** Candidate Requirements:
• Knowledge of chemistry is not required although desirable\.
• You will be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance\.
• You will show a flexibility and willingness to muck in and help out in other departments within the laboratory\.
• Laboratory experience would be desirable, however full training will be given and therefore not essential\.
**Preferred Qualifications** QUALIFICATIONS
• You will have a minimum of a higher education qualification in engineering, science or technology, although school leavers with a high aptitude for science will be considered\.
