**Job Summary** Our Transportation team currently has a vacancy for an **Engineer** with experience of bridge design, inspection and assessment schemes to join the busy Dublin team\. This is a new position and reflects expansion of the team\.
The successful candidate will have design, inspection and assessment experience together with some project management involvement\. They will have experience of working as part of a project team involved in bridge and other associated structures schemes from commission through to completion\. This will be on road or rail schemes in the UK\. The role will suit a self\-motivated individual looking to assist in leading teams and advance their career both technically and in project management as part of a developing team\.
The Dublin office has been established recently and is expanding to develop work locally and to assist AECOM with the increasing workload in the UK and overseas\. You would be part of a Bridges Sector, covering Scotland and Ireland, numbering over 50 staff\. The Sector works closely with other disciplines from the Rail, Geotechnical, Environment, Transport Planning and Building Divisions\.
The team provides concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of schemes, either as standalone bridge commissions or as part of multidisciplinary major projects\. Recent major wins for the team include road and rail infrastructure design and a 5 year commission for UK wide rail bridge inspection and assessment\.
Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international highway and infrastructure improvements\. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
+ Design of the widening and strengthening of Dargan railway viaduct, Belfast
+ Design of Northern Hub, Manchester\.
+ Design of widening of an existing multi\-level highway interchange bridge and approach ramps at Brent Cross
+ Assessment of the M8 White Cart Viaduct foundations
+ Design of Burn of Whilk WTG bases
+ Design of the M8 Hillington Footbridge D&B
+ Rail bridge replacements for the electrification of the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway under the EGIP Enhancements contract\.
+ CAFA Rail Bridge inspection and assessment\. Long term commission following previous similar CEFA and SAC commissions for employer, Network Rail\. The sites are throughout Scotland and the Glasgow team is working in association with Newcastle office team\.
**Job Responsibilities:**
The appropriate level of technical and project management experience in the majority of the tasks below is required in order to meet the requirements of the post\.
+ Analysis and design of highway and railway structures
+ Assessment and strengthening of highway and railway structures
+ Supervision of Graduates and Technicians
+ Assist with project delivery of road and/or rail bridge and associated structures engineering schemes from feasibility through to detailed design\.
+ Preparation of Technical Approval documentation
+ Structural inspections and reporting
+ Client liaison
+ Being an active participant in achieving Professional Review\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Current experience in the analysis and detailed design of road/rail bridges\.
+ Experience in the inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges\.
+ Strong ability in finite element modelling
+ Good knowledge of the Eurocodes\.
+ Good communication skills \(written and spoken\)
+ Understanding of soil mechanics
+ Supervision of graduate engineers and technicians
+ Planning and project administration
+ Report writing
+ Client liaison
**Preferred Qualifications** Masters Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent with experience\.
