Our global network of top\-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries\. **Job Summary** The Highways Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative and motivated Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in Phoenix, Arizona\. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in roadway design specific to highway and multi\-discipline design projects\. The position provides the opportunity to serve as a roadway design lead for exciting, challenging, and high\-profile transportation projects involving highway and interchange designs\. This position allows for training, guidance, and development as a project manager and in future business development opportunities\. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: + Roadway design and modeling using MicroStation and InRoads + Leading roadway design efforts on projects + Coordination with Project Manager and other design disciplines + Development of design plans, specifications, and estimates + Continually developing skills and knowledge + Mentoring/Training of junior staff + Managing small to medium projects + Task management on large projects **Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering + Registered Professional Engineer + Minimum 5\-10 years of experience, with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as highway, roadway and street design + Must have the ability to design roadways and lead roadway design efforts for project teams with minimal supervision + Must have the ability to develop design plans, perform calculations, write specifications, and develop estimates + Requires a working knowledge of MicroStation, InRoads, and MS Office programs and AASHTO design guidelines + Must be able to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required + Must have good interpersonal skills + Good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly + Excellent time management skills + Positive attitude towards work + Must be willing and able to learn about other design disciplines, including structures and hydraulics, to successfully coordinate details on multi\-discipline transportation projects with the Project Manager and others + Must be able to develop skills to manage design tasks and potentially projects, taking responsibility for production, schedule, and budget + Must be able to assist with and potentially lead future business development efforts **Preferred Qualifications** + Local candidates preferred, not required + Experience working in the Southwest Area for local DOT’s **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people\.
