**Job Summary**
The Pacific Northwest Region of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented wetland specialist for immediate employment in the Portland Oregon office\. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in water resources specific to wetland delineation and functional assessment\. The incumbent can look forward to a variety of projects including wetland field surveys, support to NEPA projects, preparation of technical reports, and impact assessments for federal, state, and local government, agencies and private clients\.
Responsibilities:
• Wetland and stream delineation \(often in challenging terrain\), plant surveys, functional assessments, and permitting support
• Collect required field data on wetland, and stream resources, including plant community, soil and hydrology characteristics
• Collect location information with a high\-precision GPS unit
• Analyze and summarize field data
• Prepare delineation and mitigation monitoring reports and permit applications related to wetlands and stream investigations and compensatory mitigation
• QA/QC of collected data
• Coordinate and communicate with AECOM team members, permitting agencies, and client representatives as assigned
• Perform all task assignments accurately and efficiently to meet challenging deadlines while meeting AECOM’s high quality and safety standards
• Available, prepared, and willing to work long days in the field collecting scientific data

AECOM is seeking to fill an Ecologist/Wetland Scientist position in the Impact Assessment and Permitting Group in the Portland, Oregon office\. The successful candidate will support wetland and stream identification and delineation efforts by collecting field data, and preparing state and federal permit applications for impacts to these resources\. The majority of this work will be in support of AECOM’s substantial and expanding linear work for compliance and permitting for transportation, transit, pipelines, transmission lines and infrastructure projects\.
**Minimum Requirements** • Minimum B\.S\. in environmental science, biology, natural resource management, or related field
• Minimum 2 or more years of relevant professional experience, including at least 1 year of wetland and stream delineation and/or permitting experience in Oregon or Washington States
• Valid driver’s license
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre\-employment substance abuse test
**Preferred Qualifications** • Training in botany, wetland delineation, and skilled at identifying plants using a flora of Oregon/Washington
• Ability to accurately delineate wetlands and streams without supervision using standard Army Corps methods in often challenging situations throughout the Pacific Northwest region
• Ability to complete work assignments efficiently and independently, while meeting challenging deadlines and maintaining AECOM’ high quality and safety standards
• Excellent critical thinking skills, especially regarding work tasks, priorities and client requirements
• Strong work ethic and motivated by the challenge to provide high quality reports on time and within budget
• Excellent technical writing skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely
• Ability to travel locally or regionally up to 50% of the time, with some periods of multiple consecutive travel weeks; ability to work overtime as required
• Ability to traverse rugged terrain in all types of weather conditions and dig several soil pits in one day
• Proficiency with standard computer and software programs\. Knowledge of ArcGIS
• Must have Oregon wetland permitting experience
• Must be skilled in the identification of the flora of the Pacific Northwest
• Knowledge and experience areas include: plant identification, soil science, hydrology, stream morphology and ecology and high\-precision GPS operation
• Knowledge and experience with rare/threatened/endangered species habitat and surveys, GIS, Erosion and Sediment Control regulations and permitting, federal Clean Water Act Section 404 regulations and permitting
• Available, prepared, and willing to work long days in the field collecting scientific data
