The successful candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years wheel or track vehicle repair experience preferably on light wheel experience or heavy track vehicles (HMMUV and BRADLEY FIGHTING VEHICLES) or verifiable full-time experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 40 to 45 pounds. Requires the ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb and stand. Must have a valid a driver’s license. This position requires a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Must be available for any shift. Job Description: The Motor Vehicle Mechanic performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance services, repairs and modifications on wheeled vehicles. Diagnose system malfunctions; isolate causes, and correct deficiencies on engines, power train systems, sub-systems and brake systems. Essential Responsibilities: 1. Service, repair and overhaul equipment and engines using common hand tools. 2. Repair, replace, and rebuild equipment and engine components, fuel systems (including cells, tanks and fuel/metering control systems), and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. 3. Inspect and repair engines malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc. 4. Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes and correct breaks. 5. Test engine operations, using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction. 6. Replace/repair damaged components, use hand tools, gauges, and test equipment. 7. Remove engine/major components from equipment, using hoist or other lifting devices. 8. Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects. 9. Repair/replace defective engine components and reassemble and install engine on weapon systems/vehicles. Adjust, repair, or replace instrument, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems and accessories. 10. Perform vehicle services, including engine flush/cleaning, parts lubrication, and maintenance checks. 11. Recommends revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
