Minimum Requirements: URS, an AECOM Company has an immediate opening for a Personnel Assistant at FT POLK, LA.
High school diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years of related HR experience. A good working knowledge of Human Resources terminology and practices are a must. Good communications (verbal and written), organizational and analytical skills required. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications/software. Position requires ability to maintain a Security Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, kneeling, standing, and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Job Description: Provides clerical, administrative, and technical support to the Human Resources function. The work involves a variety of general personnel clerical tasks in such areas as employee records, benefits, training, employment/staffing, compensation, employee labor relations, EEO procedures and policy administration. Works under general supervision of higher-level personnel.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence. Opens, date stamps, and distributes incoming mail. Prepares and sends outgoing mail including benefit change information.
2. Perform typing, word processing, spreadsheet, and data base work. Maintains correspondence, forms, listings, files, reports, and automated personnel records and information. Reconciles data in the automated Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and other sources of employee information.
3. Prepare and process a complete range of personnel actions including hires (i.e., regular full-time, temporary, and part-time employees), rehires, terminations, transfers, pay changes, etc.
4. May notify employees when medical and dental benefits become effective and ensures that corresponding payroll deductions are made. Schedules pre- and post-employment drug tests.
5. Provide and obtain employee information, checks references, and prepares Background Investigation paperwork.
6. May participate in new hire orientations and assists in the compilation and preparation of forms, reports, and projects. And prepares new hire packets.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
