Bachelors degree preferably in a discipline such as: Operations Research, Economics, Logistics, Statistics, Human Factors, Civil or Industrial Engineering. In lieu of the Bachelors degree requirement, other special or market-scarce skills may be substituted. A minimum of 7 years transportation ORA experience in one or more of the following areas: simulation and modeling methods and mathematical structuring techniques for transportation networks and logistics systems; economic forecasting; travel demand estimating; policy and regulatory research and analysis; statistical analysis; risk assessment; human performance research and experiment design; development of multi-modal databases; design of graphic analyses of data using geographic databases and information systems; developing information requirements for management of transportation enterprises; assessment/bench marking of logistics software systems; conducting complex multi-discipline information and analyses in support of a research and development technical staff. Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Participates as a team member as part of a larger project or may serve as a Task Leader on less complex tasks under the guidance of a Team Leader. Essential Responsibilities: 1. Analyze and research material to gain a thorough technical understanding of a complex subject area supporting a task assignment. Task assignment may include one or more of the following analysis: strategic planning and analysis; demand and capacity analysis; economic analysis; regulatory analysis; safety and risk analysis; system operation performance analysis; and information analysis. 2. Prepare oral presentations and written reports to management, indicating solution or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success when there is no single solution.
