**Job Summary** Our Transportation team currently have a vacancy for a **Highway Structures Inspector** with experience of inspection of bridges and other highway structures for our Croydon office\.
The Croydon office has an established track record of successfully delivering major transport schemes\. We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals with a sound technical background and who share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload in the London area\.
The team provides design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services on a wide range of bridges and transport projects\. The team is involved in local, national and international scheme with a variety of clients\. Our services offered to our clients include feasibility studies, scheme designs and detailed designs\. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include bridge owners and Highways Authorities\.
A list of some of the current structures inspection projects which the Croydon Office are working on, includes:
• LoHAC North West – London Highways Alliance Contract is a long term commission under which AECOM together with FM Conway is responsible for maintaining all Transport for London \(TfL\) highway structures in the North\-west area of London\. In addition to an annual programme of 300 Principal and general Inspections we also undertake Special Inspections, Site Investigations and Monitoring\.
• London Boroughs term commissions in Bromley, Southwark, City of London Thames crossings \(Blackfriars, Millennium, Farringdon, Tower and London Bridge\), boroughs in North West London via LoHAC\. Within these commissions we undertake around 150 highway structures inspections annually as well as inspections of a number of multi\-storey car parks and monitoring of critical structures\.
• CAFA rail bridge inspection and assessment\. Long term commission with bridge sites located on the Anglia and LNW lines
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ To carry out routine inspections of highway bridges and structures and report to a Senior Engineer\.
+ To identify any immediate items that are critical and also to identify any areas where remedial work is required\.
+ To prepare reports on inspections in Bridgestation identifying costs and suggested timescales\.
+ To carry out surveys and monitoring of condition and deterioration of structures, including the drafting of reports\.
+ To supervise specialists carrying out testing on bridges, as well as supervision of maintenance schemes\.
+ To collate information for Health and Safety files or O and M manuals\.
+ To undertake other duties and ad hoc projects as required\.
+ To act in accordance with the company’s health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices\.
+ To act in accordance with company policies and procedures, particularly with reference to our Equality and Diversity policies, procedures and practices\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Prior experience of highway structures inspections
+ Previous experience of working in the construction industry and demonstrable market knowledge
+ Previous role\(s\) in a commercially focused organisation
+ Computer literate
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills at all levels
+ High business ethics \- honesty, respect for the individual, culturally unbiased Individual thinker capable of actively contributing to the delivery of team performance
+ Ability to operate in a collaborative manner to ensure other parties are fully engaged
+ Strong customer focus and excellent customer service skills
+ Commercially aware
+ Demonstrable ability to work in a busy environment

+ Ability to lead and mentor junior staff on site
+ This role will involve travel to work sites and customer locations, and therefore the job holder being able to drive, and possess a full UK driving licence is essential\.
**Preferred Qualifications** HNC or BTEC\. Training towards the National Bridge Inspector Competence qualification will be supported
