**Job Summary** Our Transportation team currently has a vacancy for a Principal Pavement Engineer with experience of pavement design, materials specification and asset management\.
The successful candidate will be recently chartered or working to achieve this status and will have proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget\. They will have experience of working as part of project teams developing a range of pavement engineering solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for construction\. This will include highways, port, airport and industrial pavements as well as materials specification and asset management for internal and external clients\. The role would suit a self motivated individual looking to advance their career in technical, business development and management\.
AECOM’ Pavement Design and Asset Management Team is based in Nottingham with small teams in Ashford and Birmingham, which provides integrated services in field surveys, laboratory testing, data assessment, pavement design, technical advice and transfer of research into practice\.
With 30 years of experience, the team provides technical services covering the complete pavement life cycle of research, design, materials testing and specification, performance evaluation, maintenance management and sustainability\. The team introduced the Falling Weight Deflectometer \(FWD\) into the UK for pavement evaluation in the 1980’s and the Nottingham Asphalt Tester \(NAT\) in the 1990’s and the Springbox test to assess the stiffness and deformation properties of unbound and weakly bound materials in the 2000\.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and include Highways England MAC/ASC, DIO, local authorities, airport and port operators, contractors and PFI consortia\.

The appropriate level of technical and commercial expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
• Delivering pavement and material projects to include investigation reports, design projects, research and some site supervision\.
• Managing fieldwork projects including commercial and health and safety requirements\.
• Pavement analysis, design, specification and reporting\.
• Implement plans for development of pavement & materials services\.
• Provide commercial guidance when developing proposals and in the delivery of projects\.
• Implementing the technical quality requirements, addressing the project brief and meeting the client delivery deadline\.
• Working as part of the wider pavement team based in Nottingham, liaising with team leaders, attending meeting in Nottingham to understand and deliver the team business plan\.
• Monitoring financial status and progress of projects to ensure delivery on time, to budget and to Client’s satisfaction
• Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s transportation division
• Take an active role in work winning, supporting business development activities including the development of Client relationships
**Minimum Requirements** • Knowledge of pavement and materials engineering demonstrated by experience of pavement design, investigation and research\.
• Knowledge or experience of highway and airfield pavement engineering projects\.
• Knowledge or experience of UK pavement design methodologies and contract documentation, including MCHW\.
• Knowledge or experience of pavement investigation projects for maintenance design and failure investigation\.
• Knowledge of materials behaviour underlying standard specifications\.
• Working knowledge of the preparation of proposals and communication with clients\.
• Flexibility to supporting project and business development activities across wider AECOM geographies including UK and internationally\.
**Preferred Qualifications** • Degree educated in engineering or a scientific discipline\.
• Chartered Member \(or working towards membership\) of a relevant professional institution\.
