Our global network of top\-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries\.
**Job Summary** We are currently seeking a full time **Senior Engineer \(Lighting Design\)** to work from either our Croydon or Chelmsford office\. AECOM are expanding their lighting design team following several project wins\. The Croydon office has an established track record of successfully delivering major lighting and electrical infrastructure schemes for highways, structures, railways and ports\.
Our office in Croydon has good transport links and accommodates a multidisciplinary transportation design centre\. We are now looking to enhance and grow ourlighting design team with an individual with a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload\. To meet the demand of our expanding workload, a new team has been created in our Chelmsford office offering the same expectional level of service, and therefore there is the opportunity to join AECOM at either location\.
The team is involved in local, national and international lighting design projects with a variety of clients\.Our services offered to our clients include 2D and 3D lighting designs, conceptual design, feasibility studies, detailed designs and engaging with our clients regarding energy saving and carbon reduction\. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include TfL, Centro and Transport for Greater Manchester \.
Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international lighting improvements\. An example of the projects that our lighting team are working on are:
+ LoHAC \- Hanger Lane Underpass LED Lighting Scheme,
+ LoHAC \- CMS Implementation,
+ Centro \- Designing the conversion of existing lighting to LEDs within 50 park and ride sites throughout the Birmingham Area\.
+ Rawdat Rasheed Motorway, Qatar
There also some exiting new prospects in Scotland and Russia for our lighting team\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Must be able to produce lighting designs for a number of differing scenarios from road to architectural lighting in accordance with the British Standards through the use of industry standard software such as Lighting Reality or Calculux\.
+ Must be able to produce designs in accordance with specification provided by our clients or initial project guidance without mentoring from other members of staff, but still respond to positive input from others\.
+ Must have the confidence to take responsibility for own schemes from inception to delivery, establish correct materials to ensure full buildability and costing and effectively answer any subsequent queries\.
+ In addition must be able to assist with queries about other projects, irrelevant of who is involved\.
+ A ‘Can Do’ attitude is positively encouraged\.
+ An understanding of electrical terms and relevant documentation is required such as BS7671 17th Edition and the ILP’s own documentation\.
+ Must be able to use electrical design software such as AMTECH to design low voltage networks\.
+ Solid experience within exterior lighting design, preferably street lighting but any lighting design background will be considered\.
+ Must be enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills, must be able to take instruction and work as part of a team toward a common goal, yet when required work without any guidance or input from other team members or other staff\.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Completion of at least the first part of the Institute of Lighting Professionals Exterior Lighting Diploma or some equivalent specific lighting training Ordinary National Certificate in Civil Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar is preferred but not mandatory
