Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary**
**The Opportunity**
This is an opportunity for a graduate ecologist who has either recently graduated or has some professional experience to join our team of consultant ecologists\. The role will include undertaking a range of freshwater assessments, including water quality, ecological surveys, assessment of ecological effects and reporting\. The job entails working as part of a growing Natural Resources team undertaking a range environmental assessment related work, focussing on freshwater\. Responsibilities will include:
+ Desk\-based studies and research\.
+ Planning and undertaking of project work including field surveys\.
+ Data collection, analysis and interpretation
+ Technical reporting\.
+ Liaison with clients and other colleagues in the wider AECOM company to help develop and deliver business\.
Projects are often in support of development or engineering projects including planning applications and projects in a range of sectors including infrastructure, urban and commercial development, energy projects and local government agencies\.
**Minimum Requirements**
**About You**
Applicants should demonstrate a sound understanding of ecological principles and attributes in the New Zealand context, knowledge of standard field investigation techniques for conducting freshwater surveys, in particular water quality sampling and ecological methods associated with stream corridors and freshwater\. Experience in the use of Stream Ecological Value \(SEV\) and Macroinvertebrate Community Indices \(MCI\) surveys, as well as knowledge of a variety of protected and native freshwater species would be beneficial\.
You should also have excellent writing, IT and communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise reports\.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ A relevant Master of Science qualification would be highly advantageous\.
