**Job Summary** AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Inspector for immediate employment for the San Diego, CA office\. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects\.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
+ Monitors and inspects a variety of facility construction projects and installations to ensure compliance with project documents, including major mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation and control, telemetry, structural concrete and masonry, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, structural steel, piping systems, metal work and welding, painting and coating, asphalt
+ and concrete pavement, earthwork, fittings, valves, vault structures, service installations, irrigation, landscaping and other appurtenant materials used throughout Authority construction
+ Acts as liaison between the Authority and outside contractors on construction and improvement projects, other agency work and developer or tenant projects, meets and confers with Authority
+ staff, representatives of utility companies, contractors, engineers, businesses and other public agencies regarding construction plans and specifications, coordinates contractor's activities with the Authority\.
+ Maintains project documentation through scheduled status reports, charts and progress of contract schedules, records and maintains record information on project drawings; incorporates change\-orders, creates punch\-lists, submits and reviews monthly pay estimate quantities: maintains start\-up and checkout lists
+ Performs preliminary review of assigned projects to identify potential problems and recommend alternative solutions; records existing site conditions, attends pre\-construction and in\-house design review meetings
+ Reviews and examines materials delivered to the site for installation
+ to verify their conformance to specification and submittals, performs and documents, using standard applicable testing procedures and forms, inspections of compliance and suitability of materials for installation and application: conducts concrete slump and soil compaction tests, paint mil thickness tests and other tests, as required
+ Performs necessary field inspections to monitor, evaluate and document construction progress including repairs made to Authority facilities: ensures construction conforms to
+ specifications, drawings and other contract requirements; conducts final inspections and walk\-throughs
+ Operates surveying equipment to verify vertical and horizontal alignment, location of structures, elevation of pipe and other utilities, verifies placement of reinforced steel, embedded items, concrete quality, placement of form work, expansion and sealant materials and welded Joints
+ Prepares daily inspector reports and periodic progress reports on construction and installation work, maintains accurate, up\-to\-date record drawing information to depict current status of projects: prepares test data sheets, vertical survey sheets, concrete cylinder test data sheets and various reports as needed; reviews
**Minimum Requirements**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ 5\+ years' experience in building construction, including two \(2\) years as a project inspector with commercial facilities construction, or renovation experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Must be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and effectively manage time
+ A valid Class C California driver's license and the ability to meet driver qualification criteria under the Authority's Authorized Drivers Program
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree a plus
